Catalina Sophie & Federico Aguirre

Catalina Sophie and Federico Aguirre met in Berlin, the city where both pursue their musical careers, and quickly discovered an artistic affinity that brought them together through tango.

Catalina, a German artist with Argentine roots, brings a warm, expressive, and deeply authentic voice. Federico, a pianist, accordionist, and singer born in Villa Gesell, Argentina, has been living in Berlin for several years; through his music, he conveys the pulse and depth of the Río de la Plata.

Their collaboration gave rise to a musical proposal that combines sensitivity, elegance, and a genuine connection, both artistically and on a human level. The repertoire is versatile and dynamic: danceable for tango lovers, yet also designed for those who enjoy listening and letting themselves be carried away by the music.

Nochero & Catalina Sophie

Since 2024, Catalina has been working with the prestigious cuarteto Nochero.

This ensemble with vocals is also excellent for larger tango balls and festivals. Nochero´s repertoire has been enriched by arrangements specifically written for Catalina (e.g., classics like Malevaje, Pedacito de cielo, La última curda, as well as new tangos like Somos como somos, Mi ciudad y mi gente, or El corazón al sur, all by Eladia Blázquez).

In 2024, Nochero was awarded a grant from the Senate Department for Culture and Europe in Berlin and, together with Catalina, recorded the album Cantar siempre cantar in the spring of 2025, which will be released on September 28.

Tangos y canciones del sur

Catalina Sophie and Juan Cruz Peñaloza present Tangos y Canciones del Sur, a project created by the singer and the pianist—both of Argentinian origin—that explores the richness of South American popular music. Their repertoire spans tango, folklore, Argentinian rock, candombe, and bossa nova, drawing inspiration from artists such as Spinetta, Charly García, Fito Páez, and Fabiana Cantilo, who bridged the cultural heritage of tango with new sounds. Influenced also by jazz and pop, Catalina and Juan Cruz have developed their own authentic voice as a duo.
