Catalina Sophie (whole Name Catalina Sophie Gabriel) was born in Heidelberg (Germany) in 1989. At the age of 6, she moved with her family to Madrid (Spain). She showed her interest in music very early and began to sing with only 10, studying in diverse music and dancing schools, while she was completing her studies in the German School of Madrid. She speaks fluently Spanish, German and English.
She did her main studies in San Sebastian, obtaining a Bachelor in jazz singing at the Musikene conservatory in 2016. Previously she obtained a Modern Singdiplom at the Music School Musica Creativa and a Musical Diplom at the centre of dramatic arts in Madrid.
Catalina has been leading different projects from 2011 on, with whom she performed in the Spanish and German jazz scene, as well as in Argentina.
She published her first jazz contemporary album, “Blue Tree”, in November 2017, which contains mainly own compositions and arrangements. She presented it with different musicians in Madrid, Donostia/San Sebastian and Berlin.
Catalina is currently living in Berlin, where she not only keeps working in the jazz-pop scene, but has also made a name for herself in the world of tango and Argentine folk music; musical genres she has grown up with since she was a child and to which she feels especially connected.
