Catalina Sophie (full name: Catalina Sophie Gabriel) was born in Heidelberg, Germany, in 1989 and moved with her family to Madrid, Spain, when she was six years old. She demonstrated an early dedication to music, beginning vocal training at the age of ten while studying at a range of music and dance institutions, in parallel with her formal education at the German School of Madrid. She is fluent in Spanish, German, and English.

She pursued her higher studies in San Sebastián, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Singing from Musikene Conservatory in 2016. Prior to that, she completed a Diploma in Modern Singing at the Escuela de Música Creativa and a Diploma in Musical Theatre at the Centre for Dramatic Arts in Madrid.

Since 2011, Catalina Sophie has led and collaborated on different projects, performing extensively within the jazz scenes of Spain, Germany, and Argentina. In 2017, she released her debut contemporary jazz album, Blue Tree, featuring original compositions and arrangements, which she presented in Madrid, Donostia/San Sebastián, and Berlin.

Currently based in Berlin, she maintains an active career in the jazz-soul scene while further developing her work in tango and Argentine folk music, genres she grew up with and that remain central to her artistic identity.
